I am 21 and me and my fiancé have been trying to conceive for a year now. He already has kids so I know the problem is not with him. I have tried everything except for fertility treatments. I feel lonely now that I am a college graduate. I want to start my family but I can't seem to get pregnant. Does anyone have any tips, or should I just go to my ob gyn?

Are you tracking your ovulation ( not by days from your period) but by checking changes in body temp and other methods, to know when is normal body cycle ?

Are your periods normal and regular ?

You of course would not be on any birth control, had a women here once was still taking birth control and wondered why she was not getting pregnant.

And of course are you NOT having sex during the non productive time to allow sperm build up for sex right before ovulation and during.

It takes the average couple 1 to 2 years to conceive once they start to actively try.

Are you just leaving things to fate, or are you tracking ovulation? Are you having sex during your most fertile time?

There are ovulation kits that you can use that will tell you when you're ovulating. They're not cheap, but many women swear by them. I myself never used one, but if you're this eager, it may help.

Just want to add. Being lonely is not a great reason to have a child. I hope you're doing this for the right reasons, because I can tell you, you'll feel even more alone when you have a child if you don't have support.

Yes I have tracked my ovulation like clockwork, I've even tried the ovulation kits that Walgreen has. My periods are regular, it was 7 days late for the first time however, last month. Then it finally came for the usual 5 days. I have never been on any type of birth control (pills, injections etc) only condoms. I haven't used a condom in over a year though. I have been having sex so often it scares me. When I realized that even with tracking my ovulation, I still haven't conceived; I went as far as having sex everyday except for the days I have my period. I don't know what to do and it's killing me. :'(

Alty, being lonely is not my only reason. I would not only be naïve but also stupid to want a child because I was lonely. That was my fault for not giving an explanation behind that "lonely."

You can actually have sex "too often" when my wife and I was trying, we finally went to the doctor and he put us on a SEX Schedule, and for almost 1/2 the month after ovulation we had to not have sex.

Well thank God I only did that once. I made an app to see my ob gyn but that's not until the end of June. What else can I do in the meantime to try? I've been tracking my ovulation via the kit this month and an ovulation/period tracker on my phone. The phone says I'm fertile now and I'm supposed to ovulate on Wednesday. The kit shows that I'm fertile now also. I've been having sex and I sure hope it works!

Baby dust your way. Don't get too discouraged. I know it's hard. Every month you hope and hope that you'll miss your period. Then it's one or two days late and you start to get excited, only to be let down.

There's no reason to think you can't conceive. I know that a year feels like forever, but it's really not that long. Like I said, it takes the average couple, with no fertility issues at all, 1-2 years to conceive once they start actively trying.

A fertility doctor isn't cheap, but if it will set your mind at ease, make an appointment. They likely won't do any testing yet, because you've only been trying for a year, but he/she may be able to give you some tips on how to get the ball rolling, so to speak. :)

I hope you'll soon be posting that you're expecting. Until then, keep your chin up, and don't get discouraged. I know it's not easy, but being upset won't help. Keep a positive attitude, make it fun, don't stress, because that can actually make it harder, and just look forward to the day you find out that you're expecting. Okay? :)
