4 days ago my 7 week old siberian husky puppy was vaccinated and dewormed. He did not eat or drink for almost 36 hours. We took him to the vet and he was put on ivs because he was dehydrated. The next day he was back to being very sleepy and not the same. We took him back to the vet and he was tested for parvovirus and thankfully he doesn't have it. The vet we seen gave him to medications to help settle his stomach and we have been feeding them to him by syringe. Yesterday he started passing more worms and throwing up and not eating and barely drinking. Is it possible that he could still be passing more worms? His brother is fat and healthy and playing all the time

Not good for a pup this young to be so ill. You had better call the vet and follow up. Difficult to diagnose on the Internet. I know it will cost you more money, but that lovely little baby is worth it.

I agree you should call your vet and update and follow up.
Do you know if they did a fecal check and what was found?
A heavy burden of parasites can be detrimental to a pup so small,
For instance hookworms can cause a pretty serious anemia leaving a pup or adult for that matter very weak and not wanting to eat.
Roundworms are generally pretty easy to clear, but a heavy load can cause it's own set of problems.
Best to touch base with your vet and have a fecal sample checked so that you know exactly what you are dealing with.

Chicken is leaner than beef, but beef is more greasy and tasty. I'd save the beef for dogs that aren't thrilled with eating.

Worms really shouldn't make a puppy stop eating. If he goes more than a full day if not eating, drinking and acting lethargic, you should really take him to the vet

We've been to 3 different vets in 2 days. He was put on ivs all day 3 days ago to deal with dehydration and they sent him home that night. The next morning we took him to a different vet and tested him for parvovirus, he's negative for parvo. They said the vaccination and deworming sometimes takes their appetite away. She gave him two different medications to settle his stomach and to help stop the diarrhea. They said he would sleep a lot because of everything that has been going on, but my main concern is he is still doesn't have a normal appetite or wanting to drink. :( he has not thrown up in over 6 hours, which is a plus and he hasn't had diarrhea for 24 hours.

Try the hamburger and rice than and see if he's interested. If he isn't. Call the vet back who gave you the meds.

Jumping from vet to vet makes things really hard. I know you're worried about your dog, but in order to figure things out, small things need to be ruled out.

Some dogs and puppies are sensitive. And sometimes the parvo tests aren't accurate. You might need to retest the parvo test again just to make sure. Lethargy and vomiting, diarrhea and lack of an appetite spells out parvo. I hope it's not, but worms and wormer shouldn't do that.

The first vet we went to couldn't give him the attention he needed so that is why we were sent to another vet for the ivs. The reason why we went to another vet is because we were frustrated that out the two vets that neither one even thought to test for parvo. We plan to call the vet that gave us the meds tomorrow morning once they re-open. We would have today but they are closed due to the holiday. For the hamburger are we supposed to boil it ?

Chicken and rice cooked and finally chopped up is okay, it is gentle on their sensitive systems. I would not agree with hamburger.

Puppy chow has enough protein, for puppies with healthy digestive systems without extra protein from hamburger.

My pup just had a crap that was so dark my boyfriend said it could have been black with a worm in it. I could just be being over cautious but I am concerned is all. I will be contacting a vet tomorrow, I just would like to hear other peoples thoughts. Thanks for your help

Dark colored poop is typically blood in the stool.

Your pup may have both problems, worms and parvo.

And there is nothing wrong with feeding browned hamburger. Just he sure to blot the excess oils off it.

I called my vet and she just said for me to continue to watch him and if I notice something that concerns me to take him back in, but it sounds like I'm doing everything right.

Typically, dark colored stool is blood in the stool. So there is something going on inside that is causing this. Unless the medicines or wormers you are giving is causing this. Sometimes the meds that help stop diarrhea will cause the stool to turn colors.

I work at a vet clinic and a few months ago there were two puppies that came in not acting right. They were tested for parvo 3 times and all came back negative. One of the puppies died so we sent a biopsy of the intestines off to a lab. It came back with the classic signs of parvo after the virus had left.

This may or may not be your case. I don't want to scare you, but its possible. If your puppy is eating and drinking and is somewhat active, keep him hydrated and keep giving the medicine that your vet is telling you to give. The only way to get a dog over parvo is to keep it hydrated and keep the secondary infection at bay.

Stay in contact with your vet. Be prepared for an emergency vet run. Give your puppy pedialyte, that will help boost the electorlytes in his water. Cook the meals for him, browned hamburger and rice or boiled chicken and rice will work just fine.

And on a second note.. there are worms that can cause anemia in dogs. You will see the black stool from the blood that the worms are releasing. They are called hookworms. I'm not sure what type of wormer you were given, but sometimes you need to use different types of wormers to kill different types of worms. I'm not saying for you go out and buy wormer, store bought stuff just isn't strong enough. Talk to your vet about hookworms. See what they have to say. You can run ideas across your vet to get to the bottom of this. There is nothing wrong with doing your own research as long as you talk to your vet first.

we just found out what is wrong with our pup. He had an x-ray this evening and while he was with the breeder he ingested a piece of bone/rock/metal (minerals are the only things that show up white on xrays) so he will need surgery. The breeder is giving the cost of the pup back and that is it. Thanks to everyone who gave us all the information and opinions on what might be wrong. It is greatly appreciated.
