I’m 15 years old, go to a really hard high school and used to eat like a truck driver to calm my stress. After winter break (about 5/6 months ago) I noticed something weird. I am very involved in sports and love to run and because of that I need to eat a lot, but one day I woke up and had my typical huge breakfast then lunch at school and I got a plate of food and I thought I was going to throw up. It wasn't gross at all, and it tasted good, but the best way I could describe it was that my body was rejecting it. My throat would in a way close off and I'd get really gaggy if I tried to swallow it and this has been going on for 5 entire months where I can literally only eat breakfast for some reason. My friends are starting to think I'm anorexic because I used to eat like 4 plates of food at lunch and now they're lucky if I can eat a fruit cup. I told my mom and she's been giving me protein shakes and I can get those down but not for very long, I can only drink about half of it. But also, my weight has fluctuated a ton this year. I went from about (approximates) 130 pounds to 160 pounds then down to 140 pounds, and it’s for no reason whatsoever. I know for a fact I’m not anorexic because I love food (and my life) way too much to ever give it up, but I’m just concerned. I went to my pediatrician a few months ago when this was about a month in, and she said I was just way too stressed out and I needed to sleep more. I’ve been getting 8-9 hours of sleep, and that didn’t do much. I’m still exhausted all the time and I had to drop out of track because I can barely run a lap without my legs getting like jelly. My menstrual cycle is also all over the place, I went from having the regular monthly period to having one every other month which started in about November. I told my mom all of this again recently and she said she was going to try to find a specialist. Should I go see my physician again, and what kind of specialist would I see for this kind of thing? Also, any guesses on what it might be?
