    50 shades of grey
Ok. I was watching the tail end of Dr. Oz one day and heard all about this book 50 Shades of Grey. The entire audience only raved about it except for one lady. All of the special guests they had up there said it was the book for women to read because it had romance and heated sexy parts that would make women glad to see their husbands come home. So, Ok... I thought why not?

OH MY WORD!! Am I the only female in the entire world that thinks this is so NOT romantic and hot!! It was sick and twisted and involved a bunch of S&M. The truth is I only read until this guy finally comes clean and tells the girl he wants what he REALLY wants. It was for her to be submissive and he would control her in the bedroom with physical pain if need be. Really? This is what women want? I don't get it. I was embarrassed I even had it in my home and I threw it in the trash where I think it belongs. It is all the rage... has anyone else read it. If you did, did you like it? Am I weird? It didn't do a thing for me... give me a Katherine Woodiwiss novel anytime, anyday.

Apparently, you didn't read American Psycho back in the late '80s-early '90s. (I had to read it for library school, a class on censorship.)

There are two more in this series, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed.

The whole point of this series is that it's "an example of viral marketing and of the rise in the popularity of female erotica, attributing its success to the discreet nature of e-reading devices" (Wikipedia). It had been a story on a fanfiction site and took on a life of its own. It's like the Left Behind series -- an easy read, no really good reviews, and definitely not great literature.

I only know about this book because a co-worker was reading it. All I know about it is she was reading a passage to us and I quit listening. Maybe it's an age thing?

"Mommy porn" may not be everyone's cup of tea, but you might enjoy this skit from SNL:

Yeah, I saw the SNL clip. Ha ha

... oh well to each his own I guess. I just didn't get it. I guess they are making a movie now.

I admit I read the last page because all I could think is that the book couldn't possibly end well. I mean the guy wasn't in it for love and she obviously was. The last page she kind of crumples on the bed because it is over and realizes she is in more pain emotionally than he ever physically infllicted upon her. Oh yeah, that really HOT!! The world has gone mad is all I can figure..
