If a tenant leases month to month, and leaves two weeks into the month paid for, is the landlord liable to give a refund?

    Hello d:

No. In fact, because you didn't give 30 days notice, YOU might be liable for another months rent.

As Excon wrote earlier in this thread, "It's not a good idea to piggyback your question onto somebody else's. ...".

But to answer your question, no.

There is generally no right to pro-rate the month. The tenant should have given a month's notice. And, because for one thing the tenant didn't do so, the landlord is entitled to keep the full month's rent. This is intended to give the landlord time to find a new tenant. Acutally, if the tenant left with out notice, the landlord would probably be entitled to another month's rent as well.
