Firstly, no it shouldn't affect your period as it is normal. By discharge you mean its clear? If so, the yes, completely normal! Ever heard of girls being described as "wet"? Its your bodies way of lubricating you for sex so you don't injure yourself with dryness. You shouldn't be worried, your body needs to do this, even if your not going to have sex, it just happens.

Its whitish discharge.. could it be a fungal infection?

No, its normal... Its what your body does when its arroused. Sorry I should have said clear/whiteish but its what I explained before. I'm sorry for sounding rude, I don't know how old you are, but if you don't know about this then aren't you a bit young for this stuff.. Like I knew this when I was 13/14, a long time before I became sexually active. There is no fungal infection that only happens when your sexually aroused.
