    Grandsons actions
My husband and I are grandparents of a 16 yr. old grandson that we raised since he was a1 1/2 yrs old. We also raised his sister whom is now 21. He was diagnois with ADD. When he got about 12 or 13 he quit taking medicine. Lord, we have been through hell. You cannot win an argument with him, cause he is always right and he has an awful temper. When he gets mad with you he is going to tear up something. He has beat just about every door in our home. Just last week he got so angry at me that he beat the devil out of my door. You just don t know what he will destroy behind your back either. He tells he lll do it too. My husband is 74 and I am 69 yrs. Old and it is taking a toll on us.. We love him very much and you can t help but feel sorry for him because he s never had his parents take up much time with him.Do you have any suggestions or help that we might could get online.

Next time it happens call the police. That should shake him up a bit.

This is abuse, plain and simple and you should not have to tolerate it.

Now, why do you have custody and not his parents?

Is he ever remorseful after the fact? Does he seem to be aware that he loses it? Any chance he would get back on his meds? Will he talk calmly with you about things when he is not in a rage?

If he stopped because he didn't like how they made him feel, a different sort might be the answer. If he stopped because of kids teasing him, no one has to know that he is taking them. If he stopped because he thinks he can handle it without, show him the destruction that he causes and ask him if he thinks that is handling it.

I agree with J_9, call the police if you have to. He just may make the decision to go back on his meds if the alternative is facing the police.
