So I like my best friend's brother and he's 10 and I'm 13... This is a really stupid question because probably everyone's going to say we're both too young to date. But I really like him and he's not immature so is it appropriate to date? Nothing serious like a kiss but a hug and things like that.

You already told us you knew what we'd say, so this shouldn't come as a shock.

Yes, you're both too young to date. You're both children. At 10, he should still be playing with GI Joes, and think that girls are icky. He's a child, and so are you.

Now to bring it home. Fact is, you're both underage. So, if you want to date him, his parents, and your parents, have to agree. I don't know one single mom or dad that would allow their 10 year old child to date.

If you decide to date him without his parents consent, and without your parents consent, then you could be charged. That means jail time, and a permanent record as a sexual offender. Not a good way to start your life.

It's best to leave him alone, and to hold off on dating until you're older. You have plenty of time to date, fall in love, fall out of love, and all the other wonderful things we all have to go through while growing up. Do not ruin your life over a crush at the age of 13. Trust me, in a few months you'll be "in love" with a new guy. That's how it is at your age.

And "date" normally means you go out together and do things. Not hang out perhaps at school.

10 is way to young and most 10 year olds would have no interest in anything other than being friends.

You are too young to date and at 10, he is way too young, I would be surprised if he even likes girls. Leave him alone.

Honestly, I was dating around that age. I knew the girl for a while before that, but we were 'together' at that age. Looking back, there were a lot of things that went wrong... ranging from my lfie spiraling into drug abuse and repressed memories. Honestly, I think you need to jut be close friends for now. Give it some time, but don't hide how you feel. That would just make things hurt.
Remember, love takes time, and by the sounds of things, you still have plenty of time to go before you should feel any pressure.

I agree. I just have to make one correction. None of us are staff. We all volunteer here. We don't get paid to do this, we do it because we care, and we want to help people. That's the only reason we're here.

Anyone can answer questions on this site. If you want to volunteer, give others the info they're looking for, and have the expertise to do so, then stick around. That's how this site works. We all help each other, and the majority of long term members answering questions here, came to this site with a question of their own, and stayed to pay it forward. :)
