Rolled my ankle tonight. Been to a and e no broken bones but I can't put my foot flat on the floor or stand on it. Nurse told me to try and stand just on my toes to walk, tried this excrutiating pain so I am having to hop.

Get crutches on your own, or a cane would help. They just don't give out crutches, you have to buy them. You hop around until you can put the foot down.
Thanks for your answer. Pain still really bad, had surgery on the same ankle last year. Need to go to work tomorrow but I work on second floor, no lift and four flights of stairs
First they don't "give' you crutches, you pay for them, also many doctors offices don't have them sitting in the closet but tell you to buy them at a supply store.
If they do have them, you pay very high for them, If your injury allowed crutches to be paid by your insurnce, they may have gotten a pair for you but most likely for a minor sprain, the insurance would not have paid for a pair.
