Found a CD & both parents are deceased...
Both of my parents have been deceased for years and I've run across a CD that my mom had. It's through a bank that's no longer around and I can't tell you how many times that bank has been acquired but I do know the original bank is no longer functioning. The bank is in Michigan and I'm in California, so I'm not sure what is necessary to deal with this. My parents had no will as they just had my siblings & my name on anything that was of any value which was minimal.

If you could just give me a jumping off point to start I'd appreciate it.
    TIA

One option is to search the web to see if you can determine who the successor bank is, then call them to ask about it. Alternatively, if the CD has matured and not been claimed it's possible that the bank turned the money over to the state of MI. You can check to see whether your parents have any "lost assets" with this web site:

TYVM I'll check that website out! Will also see if I can figure out who the current bank is. It's been 20 years since she took out this CD.

    Regards!

Checked both the bank and the Michigan Treasury and so far nothing...
