Doctor not in delivery room when baby was born
What rights do I have if my doctor was not in the room at time of delivery? I called my doctor at about 12:45am and told him I had been having contractions for about two hours ranging from 4 to 7 minutes apart. He told me not to go to the hospital until they were all 4 minutes apart. I know my body, so I decided to go anyway. I was 90 percent effaced and 5cm dialated. So the nurses called my doctor again at about 345am to let him know I was in labor. My water broke about an hour later. At about 545 my nurse said I was ready to deliver and called the doctor again... he had just left his house. He finally got to the delivery room at about 6:15am he checked me and had me push a few times. He said he was going to change his shoes. The baby came on his own at 635 and the doctor was not in the room. The nurses delivered the baby...

WHY do you feel that the doctor should have been in the room with you ?
What are you trying to gain from this?

What do you want, this is not that unusual. Often your doctor is not on call, and other hospital staff does it.

The OB nurses are perfectly capable of catching baby... and do so fairly often. Please clarify what rights you feel were not awarded to you?

I will add a note as a father of 5 boys, I think my wife's doctor was only on the room on one, and on two of them it was the nurses who helped the baby out.

I will assume this is your first child and you had a image in mind more like what TV makes it seem

I deliver babies frequently when the doctor isn't in the room. As a matter of fact, I delivered 2 babies last night.

We are fully capable of delivering babies and completely trained to do so. Was there a problem with your baby? Is your baby healthy? I'm not sure I understand what the problem is.
