I put a deposit down on a rental house 4/27/12 along with my application to hold the house. It is now 5/11 and I have not heard back from the realitor. I called her the next week and she told me it was mine and I could sign the lease this week. Not a word from her, and I've found another better place. Can I get my deposit bacl? I don't want to rent a house from a company that will not return my calls and never took the time to call and let me know if I got the house.

Read the contract you signed. If they are in breach by not providing you will information then you deserve the deposit back. If not, then they probably get to keep if you decide to cancel.

They said they were ready to sign, sounds like that meant, come in and sign, not sure what you are wanting them to call and tell you ?
