    Squatters rights in Florida
Hello , I met this individual July of last year( I was in the shelter, for abuse women) ,when we met I asked him if he know anyone whom had a room for rent? he said he had a room in his apartment I could rent ,I rented the room and moved in August ,05,2011,any way ,he told me about this other apt he had rented in his name for another person ,with whom he had problems with ,the family moved out of the apartment complex ,so I moved in September 19,2011 ,after living there for approximately 7 weeks ,there was an individual whom moved in 2 weeks after I did ( same apt) who notified me on October 22,2011 the lease would have been up at the end of the month (10/31/11) ,after that lease was up he told me he was going to recertifiy the lease which he did .now on may 10 ,2012 he called me via phone and told me the office gave Emailed him an eviction notice and I have 30 to vacate the premises .there is a $99 move in special .which I did know of .I paid him $1145 for deposit ,and was only last with my rent once ,I have recipts & my check book to prove all payments paid to him .What do I do ? Do I start looking for a place or do I wait for the office to place the eviction on my door ? Then take all recipts and account info of all payments to the office ,to prove payments made to him .( he stated I have to move cause the office found out that I was living there ,and that they stated that it's illegal for him to sub-least ) .

Yes, you should start looking for another place, and yes, they have to give you the appropriate notice before they can sue you for eviction.

If I were the landlord, I wouldn't care about your receipts, etc. What you paid to him is neither here nor there. The landlord didn't rent to you; they rented to him. If your deal with him was that he would pay them what you paid him, doesn't matter. They were not a part of that deal. So, if they want, they can evict anyone in the premises, including you.

By the way, the title of this thread mentions "squatters rights". Squatters rights is a common term for what lawyers call "adverse possession". Your situation has absolutely nothing to do with that.
