My daughter is overweight and has not gotten her period yet. She is fourteen years old. Is that normal.

Yes, it's within the range of normal. How overweight is she?
It would be rare for both to be related to hormonal abnormalities, but it's possible. Your doctor might say that tests are expensive and to wait another year.

You could have her thyroid tested. That's not expensive and is a start.

Being over weight ( seriously) can effect not having regular cycles. I would start with a complete medical exam and if needed a exercise program.

I will also be rude, almost never do I see ( but sometimes) a over weight child, if at least one of the parents are not over weight ? Would this be the case.

If so a complete home program to change eating habits.
