I removed a regular one- light ceiling fixture from my bathroom. I attempted to connect the same wires to a Nu-Tone combo exhaust fan/light. My house wiring had 1 white, 1 black and 1 bare copper. The fan had 2 whites and a blue. I twisted the 2 whites together and connected them to the house white, connected the blue to the black, and connected the copper to the green screw on the metal box for the fan. Only the light came on. Any suggestions? I was hoping to have the fixture work on one switch, and always turn on simultaneously, no need to run them separately. Thanks, Mike W.

Are you sure there isn't another wire, probably black, in the combo fan/light box? Based on your saying the light works, I would say the power to the fan is your missing wire. Otherwise everything else sounds correct: Connect all whites together. Connect the green to the bare ground. Connect both the missing black (?) and the blue wires to the black from the wall switch. Switch should now turn on both light and fan.

There definitely IS a black wire in there as Chic said. Connect it with the blue and you're all set.

I agree, missing a black on the light/fan. The blue wire is for the light but another wire runs to the fan, black.

If it has 2 separate plugs, follow from the back, to find the loose wire.
If 2 plugs, swap the 2 for a test, Now the fan should work and not the light.

Thank You Chic! You were right, there was a black wire curled up in the back of the unit. I connected it as you said and BINGO they both worked!
