    Creditors
If I contacted creditor(s) on my credit report that show negative info for an agreement to pay my debt in full. Can that creditor agree to remove that negative account from my file or can they only show that it's PAID?

Sue you can, anything is possible.

They can remove it but there is no incentive to do so - the purpose of your credit report is to "warn" other possible creditors of your credit history. Removing correct info defeats that purpose.

Sure you can ask... but you can be certain they WON'T actually remove that negative until AFTER the debt has actually been paid in full. That's one bit of leverage they have to make sure you do.

Yes, and sometimes it will happen, but it always has to be in writing, it is common for them to promise anything on the phone and then just lie to get some of the money.
