While it is a violation to accidentally give info to the wrong person, what is likely to happen is HIPAA investigates, the provider shows it was a mistake and they have shored up their procedures to prevent a recurrence. . They may get a slap on the wrist or a small fine.

Now here's the thing. You say this is a law firm. So what is their involvement? Do they represent your company, or you or what? They may need your records to process the case.
