    Need to know this
I was unvolved in a crime where I made a police statement basically convicting the defendant. If this went to court and I committing purgery by lying under oath saying something completely opposite of what my original police statement said what would happen? I know it would be purgery, but what's the jail/prison time for someone committing purgery? The crime was attempted murder. Please help me answer this asap.

First if you had any plea deal based on the testomony it would be out and they could look at you for the crime if you were involved.

And they can change you with purgery or contempt of court.

I will assume you have such a total disrespet for the truth and for justice that you would lie to get someone off a crime.

Also if this person knows you know the truth they may want to get rid of you so you can't come back and say you lied also ( just depending on how serious of a crime it is)

Perjury is a felony in most places, so you're looking at a minimum of a year in prison, and a felony conviction is not a good thing to have hanging over you.
