I have a Sears 27 inch TV about 10 years old. It has always worked great. Turned it on tonight the sound came on for a split second then left and all I hear is fuzz. Everything else is fine. Is it toast?

Do you have headphone jacks or an audio output? If so, try connecting to either of those to see if you get sound. If so, the simplest fix would be to connect speakers to one of those two connections. This would indicate that your speakers inside the TV are bad and probably need replacing.

The same problem is happening on my television on certain channels. And now I'm beginning to hear a strange sound coming from the TV. As of this writing the sound came from the TV. Again, I immediately turned around and notice the letters and symbol “AD))” in the lower left side of the TV.

In the 1960s, a television show was broadcast titled “The Outer Limits”. And before the story began, the below narrate was said.

“There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. Something is definitely not right with the television since…

(This deadline later changed to June 12, 2009).”

As far as the digital broadcasting switch is concerned, this only affects you if you use an antenna to receive your channels. If the TV you have does not have an ATSC (digital) tuner built into it, then you need to use a set top box (often referred to as a "converter box").

What type of source are you using? How is it connected? When you say that you don't get audio on some channels do you mean that those channels never provide you with audio? Does the audio sometimes work on all channels but sometimes not work on all channels? Please provide some more details. Also the make and model of your TV would help.
