Okay so I explain to them that my mom is fully Puerto Rican and my dad is black. My mom looks like she's white mixed with latino. My dad is dark skinned. I don't really look like I'm half Puerto Rican. I can speak Spanish, but I don't know a lot of words in Spanish. But anyway, I look black. I have white people hair (it never gets nappy nor dry) and I talk like a mexican but I don't look Puerto Rican, why?

When two people, especially if they themselves are of different ethnic origin, have children, you can get a variety of different combinations. You have a mix from both parents... and even from generations back.

If your parents were to have several children, there could be some that look just like you, and some that look very different.

I knew a girl in high school whose mother was Puerto Rican and her father was white. She was fair skinned, with blond hair and blue eyes.
