I have 2 daschund puppies one is 11 months and the other is 3 months the 11 month was doing fine with the potty training until I got the new puppy. Even then he wasn't doing to bad only a few mistakes well now I have put them in separate kennels and now they both are peeing and pooping in the kennels all the time at night. I take them out before we put them in there and I take them out first thing in the morning but they still pee and poop all over the place. I just don't know what I am doing wrong. They eat in the morning and we take the food away by mid day and they play outside most of the day so why are they still going in the kennel.

Should I be mad at them for going in the kennel?
What is a good punishment for when they do go in the house?

When you are around, keeping them in sight andmore attention will do more to help.

At 3 months a healthy puppy should be able to go overnight in a crate. Exactly what goes on in those furry little heads is hard to say. Could you be convinced he is doing it deliberately to protest being crated? If so, it certainly is effective isn't it? Many ''experts'' say no way. It could also be the stress of being left behind in the crate.

I think the first step is to eliminate the bedding. You might try wood shaving instead. If you do, let me know how it works. Racks do well with small puppies and urine, but often stools stay on top.

I see many similar questions. It sounds to me like the dog is doing it deliberately to protest being left in the crate. That is at odds with the conventional wisdom. However, many dogs don't seem to have read the parts about avoiding fouling their sleeping area.
