    StepParent Adoption Terminating BF Rights
I have 2 children 7 and 10. When they were 3 and five I relocated with Washington state court approval for temporary relocation with visitation to boyfriend. He has failed to ever follow the visitation and I have not heard from him since 2003. He has paid child support on and off last time in Oct. 2006 $43.00! I want him never to be able to hurt his children again and want their step father to be able to adopt them. How do I terminate his rights or can I? I can end child support if I chose, would this help prove abandonment? The support was only paid because he was garnished he didn't pay voluntarily. The case was never made final in Washington because I never heard any more about it or from him.

Petition the Family Court in your county of residence for a motion to allow your husband to adopt them. The father will have to be notified and given a chance to respond or, at the very least, you'll have to demonstrate that eery good faith attempt was made to contact him but without success.
