    About mtd lawn mowers
My MTD self propel lawn mower does not propel anymore. The belt has been replaced and the wheels engage when they are off the ground, but as soon as they are back on the ground they stop turning and the mower does not move. Is there an adjustment on the cable? There is a belt tension screw and spring, these have been replaced, could this be a drive cable issue?

    Hi,
It could be a drive cable issue. Some machines had a thumbwheel adjustment that was up at the control lever box. Still others had a panel on the under side of the control box that not only was removable to replace the cable, but had a ringed ferrule that could be moved to a lower slot to give more tension. Two Phillips screws hold it on.
    Peace,
    Clarke
