She had irregular periods before and her mom just had a new man move in 5 weeks ago. Could stress from school/work and this new guy(she hates) cause her to be late? Ps. I welcome you to this beautiful site first! Your fears are sort of genuine. Moreover, use of contraceptives causing pregnancy is far-fetched if the product is of good and tested quality. However, inferior quality contraceptives can cause pregnancy.

Most likely it is her periods not being regular, and the stresss. BUT>>>
Of course she could be pregnant, condoms have about a 10 percent failure rate.

So you will need to wait to see if she gets her period late, and/or if she gets the one next month. If not, time to test.

Contraceptives do not cause pregnancy; sex causes pregnancy.

You have played a dangerous game.

No form of birth control is 100% effective. "Pre " CAN and does cause pregnancy.
