John deere model 175 won't start
Does this model have starter and solenoid switch? I do I determine if one or the other is not working. Rarely the starter will catch and crank the engine. Then if engine is warm it will be much easier to start

Are you sying that , at times, you hear the starter spin but it doesn't catch the engine and turn it over, starter just spins?

    Hi,
A 175 has a Kawasaki FC420V that uses a shift solenoid attached to the starter itself. If it clicks, but does not engage, the addition on a Low Voltage Kit #AM107421 will act as a stopgap measure. The solenoid is available separately #AM102577 and will cost close to $100, or the starter is available #AM104559 at a bit over $300. Picture below.
    Peace,
    Clarke
