Mutual decision to end relationship after 2 years... Is it a mistake?
    Hi there,

Thanks for taking the time to read this and any thoughts or answers greatly appreciated!

I met my ex over 2 years ago through a mutual friends birthday celebration, our mutual friend was a work colleague and we socialized occasionally. At that point in my life I'd gone through a tough break up and spent some time out having fun with a younger crowd, it was during this time I met my now ex. It was love at first sight for us both I was skeptical as he is 7 years my junior...

He was 20 I was 27, however after taking it slow and enjoying each others company the gap disappeared and we had a fantastic yr. As expected the relationship developed we moved in together and things were great but with extra responsibility came extra stress and cracks started to show. I am an established business women with a good career and own home, he was a fresh grad just starting. After a while the differences in our position in life created problems and the age gap was then apparent.

We decided to call it a day and all is amicable between us, but although all contact but email was cut from the day we separated ( needed some contact re the house) 3 months on were both still completely devastated. We both loved each other more then anything and I'm struggling to know if we made the right choice. I feel he needs more life experience and I need someone that's is ready to handle the responsibilities of a serous relationship better.

Communication broke down and dealing with real problems was so tough! They say love someone enough set them free... I feel we've done that for each other but it's so hard and I worry that we've made a mistake. Friends and family were shocked we had split but at the same could see why. Have we done the right thing? I'm just so sad and so unsure. Thanks
