Ohio 14 yr girl dating a 18yr old male, both go to same school, both on occasion drink alcohol & smoke weed provided by the adult boyfriend or his friends. Mom tells me "no" she don't approve but the 14yr old girl tells me mom is fine with it & social network comments from the minor girl & her friends indicate mom really is OK with it for the dating & is not doing anything about it except asks about him like she likes him as her daughter protenial BF. The male has had sex before the girl is just now coming to terms with the idea of it and has come close in past relationship w a ex 16yr old boyfriend just a few month prior but the girl was under the influence at the time. The minor girl has a "I dont care what you say attitude" towards anyone who disapproves. They have drank & smoked weed together for the first but nothing else so far due friends persent & there location at the time but it just a matter of time Please Note that mom is always working rarely home & only finds out the daughter has drank or smoked weed Only after the fact, it never takes place at home always at one their friends houses or joy ride in friends car. This relationship has just started & as a extened family member I don't approve. My Question> what legal issue is there the both the adult male & minor girl for when this matter progresses & can mom be in trouble for not stopping this. & is there anything I can do.

WHile there are no laws covering dating you must be concerned about what and ADULT has in common with a CHILD..

It sounds like she confides in you? You know she is thinking of having sex with him?
You can call the cops and social services about risk of injury to a minor by an adult 18+, but I wouldn't. The consequences of doing so are worse than what is going on right now. The mother actually likes the guy. The girl has an attitude, but she seems to have some sense of caution at least about sex. She could just run away.
I would befriend her. Tell her that getting pregnant in your teens is no fun at all, and if she has the baby, there goes her life until she's 32. That getting mangled and scarred in a car accident isn't either. Say it in a gentle way and keep it short and surrounded by love, maybe out somewhere fun for her. Teens of course are invincible, so it isn't easy to get the message across.

The 18 year old boy can be arrested for supplying her drugs ( distributing) and/or possession.
The 18 year old boy can be arrested for helping with the deliquency of a minor.
The 18 year old boy can be arrested if they have sex for rape.

The 18 year old boy would be looking at perhaps 10 years in prison ( most likely have to serve 3 to 5) and be a registered sex offender the rest of his life.

The 14 year old arrested for drug possession and/or use, if they show mom did not care and/or allowed it if she knew about it, they would put the child in foster care most likely.

Who are you in this situation? If you can prove some of what you are saying, I would report this to either the police (the drug use) and/or family services. Clearly the girl is not being properly supervised.

Yes we we`re close and she did at a time confined in me but recently it nosed dived after I met the guy for the first time just last week after a brief talk I made it clear to both that this is a bad idea to date and I can't not except it. And now the girl isn't even accepting my calls now. What I want to know is what legal issue do all parties face and what else I can do to try and stop this.

The legal issues should be obvious to you:

• minor consuming
• illegal use of drugs
• statutory rape (either now or immnent)
• parent failing to properly supervise
• contributing to the delinquency of a minor
• etc.

What else besides trying to give her advice and telling the authorities? Not much, probably. Just don't aid or abet it; that can get you into trouble.

How do I go about reporting this and to who cops, or children services? Because after trying to talk w mom, she isn't doing anything to discourage her 14yr old underage daughter from getting involved with this 18yr old adult male and mom has been warned about this weekend plans of her daughter & 2 other girlfriends ages 14&15yr old along w the so called adult 18yr old boyfriend and other adult males drinking and smoking weed. And as I type this it is 130am and daughter is still not home yet. I know there drinking & smoking from the social network postings from 3 of daughter friends naming everyone who is there . So how do I report this. The only problem I do not know which friends relatives house they are at. Even if nothing happens from me reporting this at least there will be a record of complaint on file in case something does happen.

I tried to take the stance of you being the one adult she might confide in and listen to, but you chose to tell both of them off, and now she has shut you out. Call both police and SS if you want, and watch how it takes a turn for the worse. Worst case: daughter put in foster care, runs away, is never seen or heard from again, mother is treated like a criminal. You could have been there for her to guide her.

If you know where they are call the police and report underage drinking and drug use. If they are arrested, an investigation will ensue and social services will get involved.
