    220v plug converted to a 110 plug
I am replacing a meile washing machine (220V) with a new LG that takes 110V.
Can I make a 110 outlat by using the black, white and ground and just cap the red?

And use a single pole circuit breaker in place of the two pole that should be existing now for the 240 volt circuit.

What you need to be careful of is be sure the existing wire size meets or exceeds the amp rating of the 120 volt circuit.
