    Yellow discharge in toddlers
My 2year 10month daughter has a smelly yellow discharge, I found it on her and her underwear. Is it normal? Could it be a sign of an infection and if so what type?

This is a sign of infection. Possibly a yeast infection. Has she been on any antibiotics recently?

    Yes. For flu.

Antibiotics for flu? Hmmm, since flu is a virus most doctors don't give antibiotics.

Anyway, if she has been on antibiotics, she may have a yeast/thrush infection. Time to get her back to the doctor.

At her age you need to take her back to the doctor. Antibiotics should last no longer than 10 days, NOT 3 weeks.

What are the chances of the yeast healing on its own?

Slim, this type of infection only gets worse without intervention.

Please do take her to the doctor. Although I am a registered nurse, you don't want to risk the health of your child by getting advice from laymen on the internet.
