I am remodelling my kitchen and installing new fridge with ice maker /water dispenser, currently not one there and no 1/4" water line run. I am wondering if it is OK to notch out the floor from sink, which is across the room a bit, and run the line in it, as I am going to put down new tile as well?

It is better to run new ice maker line through cabinets, walls and/or ceilings. Avoid putting it under tile. Hope that helps. Milo

I would definitely agree with Milo. None of us would ever advise burying a tube in a floor and tiling over it, that plain jury rigged

In agree with both Bob and Milo. If this were my call, (and I couldn't run it through the cabinets), I'd run a plastic fridge line overhead and drop down insider a wall. Good luck, Tom

From my experience, copper line is better than the plastic line. Over time, plastic seems to dry out and develop little cracks that could make a mess of things if you run this overhead.

I'd suggest the copper tubing and be sure to anchor it to the back of the 'fridge... there is a little clip on the 'fridge just above the tubing compression fitting just for this purpose... makes it so pulling the 'fridge in and out doesn't bend the tubing at the compression fitting and cause a leak!
