I am 66, my daughter is 42. She has decided she wants nothing to do with me or her father. So be it. I am at long last needing to make a will. Do I leave her out of it, can she contest the will when time comes. Do I give her some money and calll it quits, or what. I have tried face to face contact, but she says she needs time to sort herself out. I need to understand how I can cope with her actions and the consequences of the will.

Is this recent behavior on her part? Has she actually been going through some difficult times where she may indeed need to sort herself out? What has been going on between all of you? Does she feel that you and her father should be doing something you're not, and she's angry about it? Or do you and her father feel that she should be doing something that she isn't, and the two of you are angry about it?

If you don't have her in the will, would it simply be due to a bit of retaliation on your part?

Obviously what money or items you have are yours to decide what you want to do with, but if it appears to be a temporary rift in the relationship, you may want to give it some more thought before you nix her out of the will.
