Am I pregnant? Is it worth taking another test?
My last period was Jan 2nd and I was due around Jan 30th. I got a urine test at the docs when I was 8 days late then did an hpt at 11 days late both were negative. On the 14th and 15th day late I got brown stains on my underwear the next day I went to a doc who was like "well if the test said negative then you can't be pregnant". She then examined my breasts by hand and said "no sign of pregnancy". That was last week, now I'm about 23 days late. For the past year my period hasn't been late by more than 2 days and even though there were other times I thought I was pregnant my period always came. I'm not dying to be pregnant but I believe I am. I've been feeling nauseous but thing is sometimes it goes for a couple of days then it's back. Same thing with my nipples, sore then normal. Backache, headaches, feeling really tired, sleeping a lot then can't sleep at all. Couple of eople have been asking about my bloated belly. Since the brown stains were 2 weeks after my period was due then it can't be implantation right? Everything I read is saying it's supposed to be on or around or before your period is due. I live in Barbados and they don't see the need to do a quantitative test. It's pissing me off. They treat you like you're paranoid and keep saying it must be stress, stress, stress! Please help!

You could in deed still be pregnant. I had the same symptoms as you. I haven't had a normal period since December 2nd of last year. My symptoms kept stopping like yours. But all the tests came back negative. They still have no idea what exactly is wrong with me. I've been through multiple tests and they say everything is normal. Today I had a blood test done so ill find out with that but anyway, have a blood test done and if that comes out negative see a gynecologist for further testing.

Thanks! It's good to hear from people going through the situation or one like it rather than those who think they know it all! I'll take your advice redneckchick, that doctor is a waste of time. Lil_pea07 I hope you find out what the deal is ASAP. I hope you get the result you want! I am so drained right now just took a little nap. Oh yeah sometimes my nipple itch I don't know if it used to happen as regularly and I just didn't notice and it's like have a super nose, I smell things and they don't have to be nasty but they make me feel like "eeew" and then I spit until my mouth is dry!

Go back to the doctor and request a pregnancy blood test to check.

Definitely get a blood test done. You could be pregnant. On the other hand it may just be a change in your cycle. I'm trying to conceive for 6 months now. I was 3 weeks late, headaches, dizziness, nausea, sore/tingly breasts, and a 'super nose.' Most often it would come and go just as you said your symptoms are doing. I went and found out I was in fact not pregnant. I had never missed a period or been late, but my body was just going through changes, and stress. Since I am trying to conceive my doctor put me on meds to get my cycle started back up. There is still a good possibility you could be pregnant. I would find a new doctor and have a blood test done. If you aren't pregnant it could be medical issues or simply another one of those things life throws our way. Good luck. I hope you get the answer you are looking for!

Took a test this morning and it said no. 2 nights ago I was urinating every 20 minutes, that was annoying esp. if being pregnant is not the reason. If I miss this one, that'll be 2. I feel as though my period's coming because I feel so wet but then when I look there's either nothing or there's a white, kind of thick discharge.

I don't know much about these things, but maybe you could be menopausal? No idea if I'm right, but you might be pregnant too, get another doctor and keep taking tests. Good luck with everything.

Menopausal? I'm 21, I know stranger things have happened but that would be SAD!! I don't know how these blood things work around here, I don't know anyone who's done that. Maybe the 1st one I missed was just because I didn't ovulate and then when I finally did ovulate I got pregnant. Couldn't that be possible?

OK, as people have said, I would definitely see about finding another doctor. Hpts have been known to be wrong. Some women don't have their hcg hormones show up on a test until they are already several months pregnant.A blood test would be the best bet.(even blood tests can be wrong sometimes) If they refuse to do a blood test, get an exam done. A FULL exam. Feeling your boobs can't tell her if you are pregnant. Some women don't have any changes in their breasts for several months. Some don't even notice much of a change until after baby is born and they start to breastfeed. They do an exam of your breasts in the beginning of pregnancy to check for any abnormalities, etc. but that alone can not tell her if you are pregnant. If she does a full exam, she can look for things like an enlarged uterus, and the blueish purple tint to the cervix area that accompanies pregnancy(because of increased blood flow/volume) You could just be late, its possible. I once missed two periods then came on two weeks later. (was 21 also) so its not uncommon to completely miss a period or two, or just be late. However, its definitely something that needs to be further investigated. The heavy white discharge could be another symptom of pregnancy(provided it doesn't smell funky, or have an odd coloring to it. These could be signs of infection) I hope that you are able to find your answers soon. Don't take no for an answer, remember this is your body, and possibly your babies body.

Yes, that seems to be the consensus. My underwear sometimes is soaked and down there smells different, not a bad odour just stronger than before, I'm more aware of my smell. I'm wondering why if I'm pregnant do I have to have some hcg problem. Sometimes I feel like all that is wrong finds me.

Yes, if you are pregnant the smell will be stronger, but shouldn't be offensive. It sounds to me as though it is normal discharge, but its definitely something you can talk to your doctor about, just for reassurance purposes. Some times women's hcg is just too low to monitor on hpts. The exact number of hcg in the beginning isn't really the important part. Its whether the hcg is doubling or not. You can have a lower hcg count for the beginning of pregnancy, and still have a healthy normal pregnancy and baby. (This is why they have quantative blood tests. These blood tests measure the exact amount of hcg in your system, and often times they will do the test several times, a week or two apart, so that they can measure whether the hcg is doubling or not) Don't worry yourself until you have reason to worry. Just hang in there hun. Hope you can get these answers to your questions soon.

    2wks 50 - 500mlU/ml
    3wks 10 - 10,000mlU/ml
    4wks 1,000 - 30,000mlU/ml
    5wks 3,500 - 115,000mlU/ml
    6-8wks 12,000 - 270,000mlU/ml

Would you consider 2 months as early because if I count from my last period that puts me around 8 weeks and nothing yet, not even a faint line. I'm not drinking or smoking but I'm not taking folic acid that I know I should be taking anyway. So if I am 8 weeks a pelvic exam would definitely tell? @J_9, so are you telling me that by now it would definitely show if I am actually pregnant no doubt about it?

Getting an exam would definitely help determine pregnancy. They look for an enlarged uterus, and the blueish purple tint to the cervix. Also a quantative blood test would definitely show if your hcg levels are high, and it the levels are doubling, like a normal pregnancy should. Never let the doctors brush you off. Usually we know when there is something going on with our bodies. My friends doctors kept putting her off and telling her that she wasn't pregnant. She kept pushing for testing, because she knew there was something going on. They finally did test, and they discovered that she had an ectopic pregnancy. Potentially dangerous/life threatening if not taken care of quickly. So definitely push until you get answer that leave you without doubt. Good luck

First of all, the numbers I gave above are for serum Hcg levels (blood tests). My urine pregancy tests never showed up until at least 8 weeks. So you need to go get that blood test done.

You say you "know" you should be taking folic acid, but aren't, why aren't you if you know you should? Every woman of childbearing years, whether trying to conceive or not should take folic acid.

Folic acid prevents neural tube defects in the fetus. One specific neural tube defect is Spina Bifida. That is where a portion of the spinal cord is outside of the infant. It is a VERY dangerous defect in some circumstances.

So, please, go to the store as soon as you read this and get yourself some vitamins that contain folic acid.

My daughter was 4 months pregnant before she got a positive result with urine tests, because her hormones were slow to build up high enough to show positive on a urine test, this also happened with her second pregnancy, but both babies were healthy. She never had a blood test taken. Hope that helps.

CandyCat? Did you wind up pregnant? Because I have almost the same thing happening (except I'm about 2 weeks behind you)! Let me know (if you know, haha).

I am going through the same thing. I have been trying to conceive for 6 months, the first month I was a week late then the next 3 were 3 weeks late. This cycle I am now 3 weeks and 2 days late.
I have not tested this time, I'm afraid it will be negative again.
My symptoms also come and go. My boobs hurt extra bad this month and I have been feeling sick if I don't eat throughout the day, my back is sore. I am waiting till Sunday to test, at that point I will have missed period by 1 day again (29 days late).
