    Steering wheel wobbles
1990 John Deere model 170 - 18 HP Kholer with 38 inch cutting deck.

The steering wheel flops around where the steering shaft comes up out of the dash.

I purchased a new top collar bearing to install.

Removed the through bolt under the steering wheel and anticipated the wheel would lift off the shaft - no luck - can not budge it.

    Am I missing something?

Also - Thank You to Dianne for the suggestions regarding rear tire removal.

    Hi,
No, it is just stuck from rust. There are some solvents that may help, Nut Buster, Larch, Hillman, etc. Hint: The ones you are looking for are non-flammable. They do better that anything flammable, i.e. WD40, CRC, etc. You have to give them a few minutes to work. Heat may be applied to assist.
I have also seen a number of broken steering wheels on that model family.
    Peace,
    Clarke
