I have an I-beam that is 5inchs wide 10 inch high and 25 foot long it is hung 4 foot from the floor and is in cement block and has 12 foot of cement block above it with a 6 inch cement ceiling.
I cut 5 inches by 3 feet long out of the top, at the end of the I-beam, there is 2 feet to the right of the cut of the I-beam, and so it’s cut at the end of the 25 foot. I had to cut it to make a door way to get into the other side of the wall were I made a room. It is 3 car garages with an apartment on top what should I put under the I-beam to give support back. Thank you.

Did u put a steel lentil in to support the block above the cut?

If the cut out u made is not under the beam but along side u should have no problem with support.

Can u give us a picture of what u have? We will be able to help u more with aid of pics.

You need to get a structural engineer in there at once and see if you damage you did is even safe at this point. Proper structural support may need to be added to both sides if the cuts. Even including additional foundation support at the base of the supports

If the beam needs the support of the wall and is built on the concrete slab, u will only have the thickness of slab supporting wall. This is not enough. The wall will need to be supported by a few footings.

Take Fr Tuck"s advice and have a certified architect or structural engineer check it to make sure it meets building specs. They will be able to tell u what needs to be done.

I had my friend who is a engineer check it out for me. He said all it needs is a column on each side of the cut. But I wanted to separate the rooms any way so it's a perfect time to do it. The base of the old cent block wall is still there and already has footings. I am just going to rebuild the wall . Thanks Again!
