    Wrong homepage, pop-ups galore...
Hey everyone, before posting a question I looked through all the previous advice and was able to delete DSO exploit and bargainbuddy! Thank you very much!

Unfortunately my homepage for some reason still is "about:blank" and it is some site w/ searches like viagra, insurance, mortgage.. etc

These are my results from Ad-Aware SE

    IBIS toolbar
    Windupdates
    CoolWebSearch
    DyFuCa
    Alexa
    Possible Browser Hijack Attempt
    TopMoxie
    VX2
    Other

These are my results from Spybot

    Fastclick
    CoolWWWSearch.Googlems
    Unknown

Every time I delete these things, they keep on coming back!!
Could you please tell me how to finally get rid of them?

Also, how do I set forbidden sites in my IE? (to escape that bargainbuddies site that relates to exdl.exe?)
Thank you very much in advance!

Try the Spyware-Adware Removal Kit that is available at the link below. This 11 page manual contains step-by-step instructions with "screen shots" that the Pros use to remove these annoyances from the inside-out. Software should be the last step of any removal process... not the first. If the removal procedure is done out of sequence, your problems will just return the next time you restart your computer. If you've ever used a spyware removal program, then you've already experienced this. YOU NEED THIS MANUAL! By following these simple procedures, you will restore your computer to like-new condition. This procedure is VERY thorough. Entire removal process takes 2-3 hours.

    Prevent home-page hijacking w/this program
The program is called WinPatrol and you can download it free from WinPatrol.com I have used it for over a year now and my homepage has never been changed-the winpatrol program won't let anything change the homepage-it will ask you if you want to do this when something attempts to change the page. Not a large program but will save your computer in the future once you are able to remove the problems your having now. Will not clear up your current problems but will prevent them from happening in the first place.

    About: blank
    Hi,
This is one of the bad ones...
    Here are steps:

How to get rid of About: Blank Spyware.

Restart the computer; go to C> prompt.
Run scanreg /restore; and restore to a previous date; This spyware may have deleted some previous dates.
Shut down, then turn the computer back on.
    Run AdAware 2 times.
    Then, shut down.
Turn on the computer, go to C prompt, run scanreg /restore again, just to check if today is there.
Cancel, then shut down. Then, restart the computer.
You will also have to re-set your home page.
If this doesn't work, or if you have questions, please post back. You also didn't say what your windows version is, like XP, 98, etc.
    Merry Christmas,

    More Help
For Spyware protection and general help cleaning up the computer and registry I recommend,

The following files, as I have found 1 or even 2 is not always enough as 1 may find

    Something the others do not.

    Spyware
Microsoft New SPyware program-Formerly Giant spyware, they bought it out.
    Spysweeper
    Spybot search and destroy
    Adware SE
    Aluria's Spyware Eliminator
    Spyhunter
    &
Spyware Blaster, this one prevents certain items, before they are even installed, it does

    Not clean.

I would suggest at the very least 3 or more of the above programs.

Registry and Fix and Repair programs
Fix it Utilities 5 this one has an excellent Scandisk, better than the one with your OS
    Advanced System Optimizer
    Ace Utilities
    System Mechanic 5

Any 2 or more of these.

And download the Google toolbar with built in pop up stopper for your browser is good.

And a good solid Anti Virus Program or 2, updated weekly.
    PC-Cillin
    AVG Anti Virus
    Bitdefender
    Etrust EZ Anti virus

I would suggest using 2 of these.

A good defragging Program or 2
    Diskeeper Lite
    Perfect Disk.

Also run from Start/run type in chkdsk then let that run then type in chkdsk /f to help fix

    WinXP errors.

Also use the below website, that tests and reviews some for the best programs out for many

Different things, they give you side by side comparisons and rate each one in many

    Categories.
