I live in Ohio and my son's father has been ordered to pay child support. He is on SSI and was only ordered to pay $50.00 a month but he won't even pay that. He has subsequently bought a $2,000.00 big screen TV, and a $13,000.00 car with CASH from his back pay from Social Security. I have reported this to child support and they said what he does with his SSI is his business and that I cannot go after him legally for the child support he owes because he is on SSI. They insist there is nothing they can do to get the child support owed to my son. My son is on SSI as well and Social Security takes money out of his check every single month because there is a child support order in place even though his father in not paying. So not only do I not get the Child support, but my son's check is smaller every month so money is extremely tight. I don't know if Child support is even telling me the correct information and I cannot afford an attorney and the legal aid in my county does not handle this type of legal issue. What can I do and am I out of luck?
