RCA TV Static Instead of Sound
Help! Does anyone know why I get static instead of sound could go out on our RCA TV? (We normally have our stereo hooked up for increased volume. We get the static through the stereo and the same when it's disconnected with just the TV speakers.)

Can anyone advise how to fix this? (The TV weighs a ton. I'd rather not have to get rid of it.)

    Model# - G36705
    Serial# - 032641118

    Thanks in advance,
    Matt

Verify this happens on all sources. As a temporary fix/less expensive fix you (if you're using a cable/satellite box), try connecting your sound system directly to your source (bypass the TV).

If bypassing the TV does not fix the problem, then you know it is not the TV.

I would not recommend taking the TV apart yourself. And having that old of a TV serviced probably won't be worth the cost (especially versus how inexpensive new sets are). You would probably be looking at $150-200 USD for in-home service (not including parts or possibly additional labor).
