How to train a 10-11 year old dog to walk on a lead.
The dog is showing signs of having a cataract as he doesn't see very well sometimes. He refuses to go on a lead at any time. He is a very sensitive dog and is unhappy if the Owner raises her voice. Owner would like to get him lead trained - how could this be done?

It is probably the sensation of being led when he can't see where he is going properly that disturbs him.

Has the owner tried things like harnesses or gentle leaders? Many dogs will respond better to a leash that doesn't go around their neck.

Another idea for sight impaired dogs is to wear something on your person that makes a noise (that doesn't bother the dog at all) to let him know where you are at all times. A set of keys or a bell works well.
