    Lice issues
My children recently had lice. After two treatments, the nits/eggs are still present, but no bugs. We are supposed to be going camping in a friend's camper tomorrow and need to know if we are at risk of transmitting lice to them?

Yes, you are risking giving it to the friends. All nits/eggs must be removed when doing the lice shampoo as the nits/eggs will hatch into lice.

You need to re-wash their hair with the lice shampoo and use the fine toothed comb to get out ALL of the nits/eggs.

If they still have nits, they still have lice.

If they still have nits, they still have lice. You need to get rid of all signs before you go anywhere... don't forget to treat your car too!

You do not necessarily need to use the lice shampoo again, they contain a neuro toxin that can harm your children with prolonged use and exposure... try using something like tea tree oil mixed in your regular shampoo and conditioner, then for the final rinse use a mixture of white vinegar and warm water in equal parts. Pour it slowly over the head to ensure that the vinegar gets down to the scalp. This will help to loosen the nits and make them easier to remove. If the nits are too small or the hair is very thick the comb will not always work and you may find it necessary to go strand by strand in your search. As a mother of five I have had my fair share of the persistent little bugs and have found this treatment to work... Also is you use lavender oil and tea tree oil about 10 drops of each in 1 cup of water, in a spray bottle. Spray this on their hair after each washing will help to keep them from coming back.
