Kitchen bulb blew when replaced burnt out one - anyone know why? Is it safe?
The osram energy saving 21W bulb blew in the kitchen, so I about a normal bayonet Eveready bulb 100W - this blew instantly? Is there a fault? Should I just try with another bayonet bulb? I have a 60W ready to go in. The house is a little old.. Do I go ahead, or should I check something to make sure following bulbs don't all blow instantly also?
    Thanks for feedback!

I would measure the voltage, and if High, I would suspect a bad/loose neutral connection.

I have had that happen in the past. It sound like the socket is going bad and you will need to replace it. It is not hard to replace. Walmart or Lowe's are good places to purchase new ones to install.
