How to put my lastname and number of page in an essay?

There should be a page layout tab at the top of Microsoft word,there should also be buttons to edit the header and also INSERT page number is usually a small button on the top bar under the "edit layout" tab. Usually there are different forms and styles of page numbers but some you can type with then close out of the header
