    w-7 supporting document
Submitting form w-7 for ITIN from Canada.

Is there any requirement that supporting document "Passport" must be notarized by US-notarized person. Documents notarized by Canadian notarized person will not accept and will rejected. Is it true?

    Thanks.

The IRS does not accept notarizations by Canadian notaries. You can go to the US embassy/consulate to get your papers notarized or get an apostille.

    I disagree.

The passport photocopy CAN be notarized by a Canadian notary; however, an apostille (a statement of certification) from the government agency that issued the passort is also required.
