Hi,

I'm moving out of the house I built 13 years ago. Laundry room is upstairs, and the builder installed a drain pan under the washer. The drain pan is complete with a hard plumbed drain out the bottom center of the pan.

After 13 years, grease, oil, and lint from the dryer has accumulated. Bit of a mess. The pan itself appears to be in great shape, though our 20+ year old Maytag never once had a problem.

Any ideas how to clean quickly and efficiently without dumping a bunch of chemicals down the drain?

Soap.water.bleach and a lot of muscle should get that pan spick and span. Good luck, Tom

Yep, Toms got your answer. Also, if you don't want any gunk going down the drain, simply stuff a rag down the drain to plug it, and shop vac out the mess while cleaning it up.

I pretty much agree but would suggest a degreaser and plenty of paper towels. Formula 409 Cleaner/Degreaser, Floral Scent, 1 qt. Trigger Spray

Awesome ball. Believe it or not, I always carry 409 and at least two rolls of paper towels in my work truck. You just can't beat that combo for cleaning any mess you come across.
