    EtG test question for DrBill
I drank heavily on Friday night, then didn't continue drinking again until Saturday night.

I had probably around 12 drinks Saturday night, stopped drinking around 2 AM Sunday. If I have an EtG test on Wednesday will I pass?

Should I just drink a lot of water to speed up excretion?

Does exercise and metabolic rate have any effect on EtG levels or excretion?

Also, I didn't know I would have a test on Wednesday until Tuesday so I've only been able to up my water intake Tuesday.

Please provide you gender, age, weight and amount consumed on Friday, then Saturday. Ie: On Friday, when did you start and when did you stop. What were you drinking? Same for Saturday.

EtG is created as alcohol is metabolized.

I am male, 140 pounds, 27 years old.

I started drinking Friday night around 11 PM and probably had around 9-10 drinks of hard liquor and mixed drinks. I stopped at 2 AM Saturday morning.

Saturday Night I started drinking around midnight and had about 12 drinks of various shots and mixed drinks. I don't drink beer or wine. I stopped drinking at 2 am Sunday morning.

    Friday: 10 drinks/4 hours = .20 (BAC)
    Saturday: 12 drinks/2 hours = .29 (BAC)

First, I am obligated to advise you that this level of alcohol consumption is dangerous and you should seek professional help.

Now, will the described consumption/time-span result in detection of EtG?

Probably not. Very unusual if it did. Great test!

NOTICE: Any person or entity that is subjected to or relies on EtG testing should read this Advisory issued by the US Department of Health and Human Services, September 2006 and remains in effect as of date of this posting. Copy available here > US DHHS Advisory

It does make a difference albeit unknown and unacknowledged. EtG is a direct metabolite of EtOH and metabolism of EtOH varies by ethnicity with a marked difference between Asian and Caucasian.

Yet the EtG concept makes no such distinction. It has never been tested. Never mentioned.
