    Recovery rebate 2008 - Urgent
I was on H1b with SSN and my wife had ITIN and didn't have SSN in 2008. She received her SSN in 2010. I didn't receive any recovery rebate ($1200) in 2007 or in 2008.

Can I amend my 2008 taxes now with a 1040X (today is last day I guess -- 3years to amend) and using my wife's SSN and still claim the recovery rebate ($1200)?

I would appreciate any timely response as today is the last day and I just heard about it from a co-worker that it could be possible.

    Thanks

Looking at some of the old posts, it looks like I cannot file an amended return 1040X as my wife didn't have SSN in 2008!

Actually, you COULD have amended the 2008 return and gotten the Recovery Rebate Credit. I submitted THREE such amendments in the past two months.

However, it is TOO LATE now, because the 3-year statute of limitations for request refunds expited on Satuday. Sorry!
