Find the experimental probability that the spinner does not land on purple
An experiment consists of spinning a spinner. The table shows the results. Find the experimental probability that the spinner does not land on purple. Express your answer as a fraction in simplest form.

    Outcome frequency
    red 8
    purple 12
    yellow 10

To calculate the probability that an event occurs from experimental results you divide the number of times the event occurred by the total number of trials. Here the number of times for the event the spinner did not land on purple" occurred is equal to the number of times it landed on other colors (red + yellow), and the total number of trials is 8 + 12 + 10 = 30. Can you take it from here? Post back with your answer and we'll check it for you.
