    Who can press charges
    I live in Texas and age of consent is 17. If a 18 year old and a 16 year old have sex who can press charges? Anyone? Parents? The 16 yr. old?

    The DA presses the charges, anyone can report it, parents, teachers, friends of the 16 or 18 year old who may be jealous or mad. Perhaps a ex friend.

    "Pressing charges" is simply asking the police or prosecuting attorney to prosecute. So yes, anyone can.
