New battery won't keep laptop on
I have a hp nc6400 that I put a new battery in.. When you try to run laptop on just battery it won't run but for just a few minutes although it says fully charged... then when you put ac adpter back in it says 75% charged...

Is it a bad battery ? Or maybe the charger? The charger is not oem it is a replacement

Is the battery a HP original and did you charge it completely before use.
Also what OS are you running..

No it is a replacement running win 7 pro and I don't know if it was fully charged before use but I am assuming it was... as they just recently tried to run it with just battery... it is a laptop I upgraded for someone... I did order a oem charger...

As it's a non-brand and new it may well need a few charge/discharge cycles before the OS registers it correctly..

Are you the one that installed the battery ? Did you check the ah rating on them to make sure it was close ?
