My cat is suddenly afraid of everything and nervous!
I have a cat that just turned 1 year old this month. I have had her since she was a kitten. Same house, same everything. She is up to date on all shots and is not showing any signs of being sick.

Nothing has moved, changed, no new furniture, no people around at all just family that she is (or was) comfortable with. Same cat litter, same cat food in the same place.

She does not go outdoors. We have NO other pets, not even a fish.

She has no injuries and absolutely nothing has happened to her.

We have not taken her anywhere. She has not been to the vet recently. No, she is NOT in heat.

    NOTHING has changed.

This just happened one day a few days ago, it was as if a switch turned on in my cat's head in one instant. Everything was fine, and I had just came inside. I took my shoes off like I always do. The cat approached my shoe as if she was curious yet nervous, sniffed it and backed away (yes, I checked the shoe for anything undesirable, that was my first thought... nothing on the shoe. She does this with everything now. She walks real low, slow and cautiously, sniffs the object or whatever, and the whole time she is shaking and obviously scared to death. If there's ever a movement or loud noise, she will jump straight up 3 feet in the air and run.

It's like she's not my cat anymore! She hides to sleep, she used to sleep with me or my kids. She obviously isn't happy. She won't play anymore, she used to love to chase a ball and do other typical cat play.

What might be wrong and how can I get my cat that I love back?

Has she been spayed? If not, please do that and give her lots of healthy years ahead.

She may smell something on your shoe that you have no idea is there. Their sense of smell is very keen. If you can, clean up your shoes with soap and water. But then, something else may have upset her. Continue to observe and report back to us with anything new you notice.

Also some times cats will change like that we had a couple cats that did that and now they are fine but went through a phase I guess so the vet says. He also said we could prescribe something but felt bad about that and couldn't give it to my cat she will calm down don't worry
