What device is drive E? A USB flash key? A CD drive? A card reader slot?
Is drive E viewable in "My Computer" ? Do you get the same message when you double-click on it?
The e drive is a cd rw drive. Apparently it is not being read as a recording device by the system.
Are you using burning software? Such as Nero? Or what software are you using?
Try another blank disc. Same error?
Is the cd drive reading discs OK?
The drive will read OK, except when I try to copy photos. I have Sonic burning software which works OK too, but whenever I attempt to copy photo files using Windows, I get the problem.
So the CD drive is working fine. Did you try another blank cd?
Can you copy other files (not photo files) OK? I don't see why this problem would occur with only photo files.
If you are compiling photos to a cd, why not just use the Sonic software?
There are a couple of other things I see also.
1. You are trying to use a blank cd like a floppy disk, using Packet writing solutions such as InCD and DirectCD. In your case, since you have Sonic, this is the technology that may have be installed by default?
2. You are using XP's built-in cd burning feature.
If you are using 1. then maybe re-installing the feature will help.
If you are using 2. then maybe the cd-burning service is turned off. Follow this link to enable it.
Did you try to burn pic file with sonic or windows.
It might that you disable burning function on windows
I tried both solutions, re-installing Sonic and enabling the Windows burning feature. No luck.
Are you using the right CD? You should be using a data CD.
Oh yes, I'm using a data cd. Moreover, the recording tab is not showing in the properties box.
If the recording tab is not showing, it looks like Windows believes your cd drive is just a CD/DVD-ROM. There is a registry fix for this from MS.
Follow this link.
I did that procedure already. Ddin't work.
Are you saying it just reads CDs but won't burn them? Are you sure you have the capabilities to burn anything?Quote:
